Tudor Style Home Trim & Molding Styles

Tudor homes are instantly recognizable. Some of the most common Tudor home features are their steep stucco roofs and exposed timber framing.

The trim and moldings of Tudor homes inspire historic charm through attention to craftsmanship and detail.

Tudor Revival Casing

Tudor style door trim is often a bold and commanding presence within a room. These moldings are thicker and often more substantial than other styles adding a strong structural presence to the overall style of the room.

Casings are typically matched with elements such as wainscoting, mantels, or fireplaces to give rooms a cohesive and polished appearance.

Tudor Revival Plinth

  • 8549 [1-3/16 x 3-3/16]

Tudor style plinth blocks help to ground the more decorative elements of Tudor casings and give them weight within the structure. They also help to make the transition from door casing to baseboard less abrupt creating solid structure lines throughout the house.

Tudor Revival Mullion

While not as common in modern architecture, mullions are common in Tudor homes to support their large and often heavy window panes. Mullions are built to help distribute the weight of these windows and maintain structural integrity.

They're often matched with other decorative elements of the house to preserve the aesthetic of the building.

Tudor Revival Window Casing

Tudor window trim are similar to their door counterparts although often they can have additional adornments or styling.

For example, homeowners may choose hood moldings above a doorway that accommodates the window's arched design or provides an additional decorative flourish.

Tudor Revival Window Sill

  • 9025 [7/8 x 3-1/4]
  • 5020 [5/8 x 5/8]

Tudor style window sills are often thicker than their modern counterparts. When not made of wood these sills are constructed of brick or stone, but wood sills help to further incorporate natural warm elements through the large spacious Tudor rooms.

Tudor homes naturally style well with dark species wood options like cherry or mahogany.

Tudor Revival Ceiling Moldings

  • 5210 [5/8 x 1-1/4]

Tudor revival ceiling moldings are often matched with any of the exposed wood beams or ceiling paneling to create a cohesive ceiling with a touch of elegance.

Their heavy profiles help to establish the ceiling and add to the warmth and historic nature of the interior design.

Tudor Revival Baseboard

Like the other elements of the Tudor architectural style, Tudor revival baseboards are commonly taller than modern baseboards and carry a robust, weighted profile.

Tudor baseboards are almost always matched with the other wood trim and casing elements within the home and can feature details such as beading and other intricate designs.
