244 SOUTH THIRD STREET, PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA
The Powel Room was built in 1765-66 by Charles Stedman and sold to Samuel Powel in 1769. Samuel Powel was the mayor of Philadelphia before and after the American Revolution and hosted many members of the Continental Congress. The building still stands today, but the second-story room was reconstructed and opened at the Metropolitan Museum of Art of the American Wing in 1924.
