Built in 1795 and designed by Charles Bulfinch for Massachusetts politician and lawyer Harrison Gray Otis. It is the first and simplest of three houses designed by Bulfinch for Otis and his wife, Sally Foster Otis. The house was moved back 40 feet in 1924 to its current location to allow the widening of Cambridge Street.
