Federal Baseboard
Federal style baseboards feature ogee profiles that rely on the cyma recta and other serpentine shapes. Less ornate shapes are also present in Federal homes. Moldings were commonly painted white - particularly baseboard and crown.
Federal Crown Molding
- 3006 [3/4 x 5-1/4]
Federal crown molding shapes adhere to the same style as base moldings: serpentine shapes like the cyma recta and cyma reversa.
Federal Window & Door Trim #1
- 1513 [1 x 3]
While Federal style door and window trim could include simple designs, like rectangular planed surfaces, they were often more ornate. These moldings featured reeded and fluted surfaces combined with a cyma recta or other serpentine curve in their profile.
Federal Window & Door Trim #2
Back band molding of deep curvature can be added to Federal style door or window casing for further depth.
Federal Architecture & Trim Characteristics
Federal style homes and buildings are known for their symmetry in design, including facades, floor plans, and millwork.
Federal style homes often feature molding composed using the ogee, fillet, ovolo, bead and quirk, and the other profiles of classical architecture.
