Historic Accuracy, Quality Millwork

At Mouldings One, we believe that historical millwork and quality craftsmanship go hand-in-hand. All of our moulding profiles, from door and window casing to base and crown, are based on extent examples or historic drawings.

In this collection you'll find Cape Cod mouldings inspired by a multitude of references. These profiles are true to the architectural style and can be milled from your choice of high quality materials, including a variety of North American hardwoods.

Cape Cod Wainscot

Cape Cod style wainscoting comes in several varieties, but typically features flat panelling or narrow vertical wooden panels, usually beadboard, that cover the lower portion of walls.

The wainscot is typically painted white or a pale color, and it is often paired with simple, clean-lined adornments.

Cape Cod Casing

Door and window casing inside of Cape Cod homes features little ornamentation aside from bead and quirk. The design of the casing is often quite basic, with a narrow, rectangular profile and simple corner blocks. Cape Cod casing can be painted white, another light color, or stained to match woodwork in the home.

Cape Cod Plinth Block

  • 8545 [1-7/16 x 4-3/8]

Plinth block found inside of Cape Cod style homes is simple and geometric, with planed surfaces and angles adding depth without ornamentation.

Cape Cod Baseboard

Base mouldings inside of Cape Cod homes is traditionally simple, like most other millwork, with the only ornamentation consisting of the ovoloo. Baseboard in Cape Cod homes was commonly painted white, but other colors and stains were used.

Cape Cod Home Characteristics

Cape Cod style homes were originally built in the New England region of America during the 17th century. However, their influence lasted long after this period, with Cape Cod homes being built further West as late as the 20th century.

The overall aesthetic of Cape Cod style homes is one of simplicity and functionality, with an emphasis on practicality and, above all, durability in the harsh winter coastal climates of the Northeast.
